Keep an eye on your filter pressure
Your pool filter's pressure gauge is a great way to tell how efficiently your filtration system is working.
High pressure
Usually means your filter is getting dirty or blocked, restricting water flow. Backwash your sand filter or clean your cartridge filter as required.
Low pressure
May indicate a blocked skimmer or pump basket, low pool water level, an air leak or a restriction in the suction line. Check your water level, baskets and pump operation.
Top tip: Take note of your filter's normal pressure when it's clean. If the pressure rises by around 20–25%, it's generally time to clean or backwash your filter.
Regularly checking your filter pressure helps keep your pool water clear, improves circulation and prevents unnecessary strain on your equipment.
