5 top tips to get your pool ready for summer
Spring is the perfect time to get your swimming pool ready for the warmer months. A little preparation now can save you time, money and headaches when summer arrives.
Give your pool a thorough clean
Remove leaves, dirt and debris that have built up over winter. Brush the walls, steps and floor, and vacuum the pool to remove any settled dirt and algae.
Test and balance your water
Check your pool's chlorine, pH, alkalinity and stabiliser levels. Balanced water helps prevent algae, protects your pool equipment and keeps the water safe and comfortable for swimming.
Check your filter and pump
Clean your skimmer and pump baskets, backwash or clean your filter as required, and check that your pump is running efficiently. Good filtration and circulation are essential as temperatures rise.
Check your chlorinator and salt levels
If you have a saltwater pool, check the salt level and inspect your chlorinator cell for calcium build-up or wear. Make sure your chlorinator is producing enough chlorine to cope with increased sunshine and swimming activity.
Adjust your filtration for summer
As the weather warms up, your pool will generally need more filtration and chlorine. Review your pump running times, test the water more frequently and keep on top of regular maintenance before algae becomes a problem.
